Tour of Olive Branch Academy

Playing school was always one of my favorite things to do as a child. I think that is part of why I love homeschooling. Not that I'm "playing" at it- it IS a serious undertaking, but it is also very fun. I'm pretty sure that the only thing I missed about being in school myself was the purchasing of fresh supplies each fall. There is just something so invigorating to me about choosing a yummy new box of crayons. And now that I'm a mother I have an even deeper appreciation for all things not chewed on so getting new pencils and markers and notebooks is so fun!

Last night when I came home from Bible study my wonderful husband- who never does ANYTHING half-heartedly was busy attaching my new maps to the wall. I had purchased two large maps, one of the US and one of the world that I was very anxious to hang, but could not find frames the right size. So he made some and they are not your average poster frames, let me tell you! We put them low enough on the wall so that the kids can actually use them.

Here are some more pictures of our school room (and no, I didn't tidy up for pictures- this is how it all looks after a regular day)

this is where I sit

Peter and Kate's work stations- we're planning for the wall above here to eventually be all book shelves- can NEVER have enough book shelves!!

Preschool in a cabinet

Craft supply and misc storage

More storage for my things and things that need to be out of reach (including the rice box which requires mommy to be in a certain mood in order for little people to be allowed to scoop, pour, and measure a substance that we've found to actually be very difficult to vacuum out of carpet).
I'm going to try to do a post soon on what books we're using this year for those of you who care (Brooke).

Do you go around and clean up all the clutter before you take pictures for blogger? I can just picture you doing that, lol.
