A Hard Day's Work

We left the house at 8:13 am. I was optimistic. I thought surely we could be home by 11.

It is now 2:39 pm

and I JUST got the groceries ( almost) all put away.

I am more appreciative than ever of the fact that my husband usually gets the groceries.

The long drive to and from the stores, the potty breaks (someone likes to wait until about 10 minutes after we've left a bathroom when we are in the farthest reaches of the warehouse store before she needs to "go weally bad"), diaper changes, lunch break, and the fact that we hadn't done what is usually our weekly Sam's/Walmart run in about 3 weeks made for a VERY long morning. Add a few kids who can't keep their hands to themselves (one of whom is suffering with allergies and CAN'T stop coughing), a toddler who just doesn't want to sit in the cart that long, and a very unhappy teething baby and you get a very tired (and maybe crabby) mommy. Then there's the fact that I didn't think about the lack of space we'd have for all our groceries considering how long it had been since we shopped. We stock up- on cereal, diapers, cereal, wipes, and more cereal. So it was quite a job fitting everything in old Blue. Thankfully Peter was willing to sit in the tight spot between two carseats in the way back so I could use his seat for cereal and other important stuff. And since this story is way more fun with pictures:

my tired babies

it's a good thing I didn't have a front seat passenger
Peter's usual spot. And how Maddie is still smiling I have NO idea.

time to go home!!

It could have been worse. Nobody puked. Nobody pooped their pants. Nobody got their fingers slammed in any doors. And Pete is going to be so happy when he comes home to fully stocked m&m jars and a big ole bottle of rum. What can I say- it's fall and we like a little rum with our cider. Too bad I forgot to buy the cider ;)

That looks like the back of our van only we take the back seat out of the 15 passenger van and pile it FULL!

I don't know how far you are from Sams and Wal-mart, but something I have found that really works is doing Wal-mart in the morning and buying a special lunch for at home. Then after naps, head to Sams. It makes for a longer day, but when we shop once a month, it really helps to break it up. I need the break more than the kids do and everyone stays happy!

LOL! I think next time you should come to my Sam's and drop off a few kids...seriously! However, upon seeing emply seats, you may be tempted to fill them up with cereal! :)

You are BRAVE. I don't dare go to the store with kids in tow. :)
