Maddie is 4

Yesterday we celebrated Maddie's 4th birthday. We are so blessed to have this spunky, fun, energetic, morning sunshine, expressive, talkative, little girl.
She wanted a pink cake with orange frosting which sounded kind of weird to me, but I decided to use my checkerboard insert and it turned out pretty cool. She also wanted pizza which we just had Saturday when my family was here to celebrate the August and September birthdays in the family. So we made some with ready made crusts which was super easy and pretty yummy. Oh- and she requested orange pop too which she guzzled since it's a treat and then didn't have room for the rest of her pizza. But of course she had room for cake :)
Pete had a deacon's meeting last night, but he left work a little early and went to the meeting late so that we could have a couple of hours to eat together and give Maddie her gifts. We gave her the mini van that goes with her loving family doll house and I made her a fleece blanket. When she saw it she got a huge smile on her face and said, "I didn't want one, but I do like it!" All 5 of the kids enjoyed a wrestling match with daddy before he had to head to church.
I love celebrating my kids' birthdays. It's such a blessing to have all of these beautiful and healthy children and I love to have a day to praise the Lord for their lives and think about how they are learning and growing and changing.
