The School of Patience

I've never been the most patient person. Shocking? I know most people think that since I homeschool I must be the epitomy of patience. On the contrary, I believe that part of why the Lord has put it on our hearts to homeschool is so that He can sanctify me and help me to learn patience.
Now, He has added a new class in my school of patience. It's called Adoption. We are adopting because the Lord has put this on our hearts. We believe this is a way to express gratitude to Him for allowing us to be part of His family. We look forward to bringing our new son not only into the Vander Wall family, but into the family of God. Ever since we found out about this little boy, a part of our hearts has been there with him. It is painful, this waiting, this trial of sorts.

"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." (James 1:2-4)

We are not enduring physical pain or persecution. Yet, our faith is being tested. Will we trust our Heavenly Father and be still and know that the One who made us and made our son knows EXACTLY the minute we should meet? That He has ordained it since before time? That He knows EXACTLY the minute we should bring him home and introduce him to his new brother and sisters? Our God is big. Our God is perfect. He is all wise. This is about more than just hoping and praying that we quickly get a court date. This, to me, is about trusting in the timing already determined by a God who has planned EVERYTHING for His own glory. To God be the glory, in our waiting and in our meeting our son and in our bringing him home!

Agreed! This was just what I needed to read today. I'm so thankful that we are going through this "trusting trial" together. I am also thankful that we both love the Lord and know that He can see the big picture and He knows better than our earthly minded brains when the best time for our little ones is to come home. With that being said, I'd still be alright if he chose today or tomorrow to let us know we were submitted to court ;) hehe. However I trust that he knows best!
